FOR THE LADIES

Not comfortable training with guys? We totally understand. Coach Lenna is present in most classes as well as other female students. We have a very welcoming environment for women and do not force them to train with the men if they do not want to.

COACH LENNA

We are extremely lucky to have Coach Lenna be the head of our Women's Program. She is a 2nd Degree Black Belt under World Champion Cassio Werneck. She is a seasoned competitor and will be able to teach you the techniques and skills needed to succeed. She understands the challenges women face in a male dominated sport and can teach you to overcome them. She is also a mother and can sympathize with all the other sleep deprived and busy mamas who are trying to sneak in a workout sometime within their jam backed day.

CONFIDENCE

Jiu Jitsu empowers women with the ability to fight back by helping them to understand that technique can allow you to defeat a stronger opponent or simply to disengage and escape. When women begin to train Jiu Jitsu, they learn to stop trying to fight strength with strength. They learn the body mechanics of how to escape certain precarious situations, rather than attempting to futilely overpower their opponent.

FRIENDSHIP

Another benefit to joining a Jiu Jitsu academy is the friends you will make. There must be something about rolling around on the ground trying to attack each other that really brings people together. But seriously, Jiu Jitsu is a life-long journey and without even realizing it, we spend months, and then years learning and growing with our teammates.

ENERGY

It may sound counter-intuitive that working out intensively will make you feel more energized than not, but it is true. Doing a sport or other physical activity not only relieves stress, but is re-energizing. Students benefit tremendously as well since physical activity actually aids in studying and helps students to focus more and learn better.

STRESS RELIEF

If you’ve ever seen the pictures people post after training Jiu Jitsu, there is always one thing in common – a huge smile! That’s because Jiu Jitsu is an excellent way to alleviate stress from work and life. Even when you come into the academy with something weighing on your mind, it is quickly forgotten once you begin drilling techniques and sparring. Jiu Jitsu acts as a kind of therapy for many people, a space where the only things that matter are learning new techniques and trying them out in live sparring.

SELF DEFENSE

The first time you train Jiu Jitsu you will immediately be aware of how little the average person knows about basic self-defense and the ineffectiveness of our basic instincts. Not to worry! Jiu Jitsu fundamentals are also the basics of self-defense. That is why many law enforcement officers go through specialized programs that were developed from Jiu Jitsu techniques. The reason is because many times, the safest way to diffuse the situation is through Jiu Jitsu techniques.

CARDIO

Jiu Jitsu develops amazing endurance, and the best part is that you will not even notice how hard you are working! One of the most difficult aspects of endurance training is that it's too easy to focus on how much time we are on the treadmill or how many calories we have burned. But with Jiu Jitsu, your mind is focused on technique and facing off against your partner instead of the working out.

WEIGHT LOSS

Jiu Jitsu works every muscle in your body allowing you to notice a difference almost immediately. You will recognize how much easier it is to lose weight and keep it off. 30 minutes of sparring in Jiu Jitsu burns approximately 507 calories, and 60 minutes burns 1015 calories!

FUN!

The best part of training Jiu Jitsu is how much fun it is. It is a hobby you can continue to do throughout life. Many continue to show up to train just because of how happy it makes them. Walk into any academy and ask a random person why they train, and they will tell you how addictive and fun it is. There is just something about Jiu Jitsu that keeps people coming back. The culture of Jiu Jitsu creates the perfect atmosphere to learn and improve yourself. It is never too late to start having fun!
